SHORT CV

Dr Vasiliki (Sila) Bountziouka joined the Dept. of Food Science and Nutrition of the University of the Aegean in May, 2022 as an Assistant Professor in Biostatistics.

Dr Bountziouka graduated from the Dept. of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Harokopio University in 2004, and she followed postgraduate studies in Biostatistics at the University of Athens (2008). She gained in-depth research experience in nutritional epidemiology and dietary assessment during her collaboration with various national (Harokopio University, Agricultural University of Athens, Hellenic Health Foundation, University of Athens) and international (WHO Collaborative centre of Nutrition, University of Athens) institutions. In 2012 she has been awarded her PhD from the Harokopio University and followed post-doctoral studies in applied biostatistics at the University College London and University of Leicester. There she expanded her research interests in health sciences focusing on the development of reference equations and centile curves, and the application of causal inference methods in lifecourse epidemiology and longitudinal and big data analysis.

Her research has had significant clinical impact through improving diagnostic tools for measuring lung function or identifying developmental delay in children to working towards developing public health practices for the early prevention of disease progress from birth to old age.

Should you wish to obtain a MRes or PhD under her supervision please contact Dr Bountziouka at vboun(at)aegean.gr.
