SHORT BIO

Dr. Kosmas Ellinas (M) is Assistant Professor in Applied Physics and Nanotechnology in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition of the University of the Aegean. He has participated in more than 14 research projects several as PI or co-PI with National, European as well as private funding (i.e. BIC VIOLEX S.A.). He is currently the PI in three National research projects and one Erasmus+ KA2, Higher education sector  projects (total budget> 1 M Euros). As post-doctoral researcher, he acquired 2 scholarships from State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and Stavros Niarchos Foundation, he is the author or co-author in more than 44 publications and inventor or co-inventor in 4 patents. In 2023, he was selected as the winner of the prestigious Young Investigator and Lectureship Award from MNE journal, Elsevier for his contribution in the fields of Nanofabrication and Nanotechnology for Life Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. He is also one of the co-founders of the Spin-off company of NCSR Demokritos, called Nanoplasmas Private Company (www.nanoplasmas.com), under his management (2016-2022) the company had raised two venture capital funding rounds (500.000 Euros) for the commercialization of high-end diagnostics for health, food safety, agricultural and environmental applications.
